Advertise on Batgung

Here's an easy way to find new customers for your business, and do some good at the same time.

The potential new customers are batgung's readers. Over 16,000 unique individuals visited this site last month, registering over 96,000 page views. The visitors tend to be a mix of local residents and people planning to visit or move to Hong Kong.

The good you'll do is to help fund a new library for a school in Nepal. Simply make a donation of USD25 or more, and we'll display your advert until the end of November. Your donation goes straight to the charity - we don't see a penny of it.

There are two types of advert available. Which is better for you will depend on whether your type of business has broad or focused appeal to the public.

Banner advert for business with broad appeal.

These are the small graphic adverts you see on many sites. Based on the figures quoted above, you can expect your advert to be displayed to several thousand people. These adverts work best for companies that offer products and services that have broad appeal to the type of person visiting batgung, eg

• Online communities for expats
• Restaurants, Health Clubs, Spas and other services

Targeted text advert for focused appeal.

These are short text adverts that are placed on a single batgung page of your choice. The numbers of people that will see them will be much smaller, typically several hundred in one month. BUT, you know those people are looking for exactly what you offer, making it much more likely they will become your customer.

eg our page on 'Buying a Digital Camera in Hong Kong' was read by 1,600 people last month, with over 500 of them arriving directly there. The page is the #1 result for a google search on 'digital camera hong kong'. So if you own a shop selling digital cameras, you can see that an advert on that page like the following would be of immediate interest to the readers:

Banner advert details.

A typical batgung page currently shows Google adverts in up to three places:

 - 1: A vertical ad at the top-right corner of the main content
 - 2 & 3: Horizontal ads after the main content, and again at the bottom of the screen if there are any comments.

In November we'll replace the Google adverts with the banners you supply.

So to place a banner advert on batgung, please:

1. Send an email to mrb@batgung.com with the following information:
   • Whether you want a vertical or horizontal ad
   • How much you'll donate (USD25 is the minimum, but it is for a very good cause so please be generous)
   • Attach a copy of the image to be displayed for the ad
   • Provide the link for when someone clicks the ad
2. We'll send you a reply confirming everything is ok
3. You make the donation online using secure credit-card payment by Visa or Mastercard, and email us once the donation is complete
4. We display your ad

The size of the horizontal ad is 640x120 pixels, while the vertical is 120x600, We can accept minor variations in sizes, so please check if you're already using something different.

We'll accept up to ten horizontal ads from different sponsors. Those ten ads will then be displayed at random as readers view pages on batgung. We'll use a similar approach for vertical ads, accepting up to five from different sponsors. You can expect your ad to be displayed from 6,000 to 30,000+ times during November, depending on how many companies sign up for banner ads.

Text advert details.

The text adverts have the following format:

To place a text advert on batgung, please:

1. Send an email to mrb@batgung.com with the following information:
   • The Title (Max 10 words)
   • The Body (Max 50 words)
   • How much you'll donate (USD25 is the minimum, but it is for a very good cause so please be generous)
   • The batgung page you want your ad to appear on
2. We'll send you a reply confirming everything is ok
3. You make the donation online using secure credit-card payment by Visa or Mastercard, and email us once the donation is complete
4. We display your ad

We'll accept up to two text adverts per page, displayed in the order they were submitted, oldest first.

Below are some suggestions for the most popular pages, but you are welcome to choose any page (use the search box on the left to look for pages that match your interest). In the table below, the 'Views' column shows how many times the page was displayed to a reader. The 'Entry' column shows the number of times the page was the first page the reader saw. A high number often means the page is a popular result for internet searches, and so a good page for advertising on. The figures shown are for September 2007. The figures for November should be similar, but may be higher or lower.
