Chung Hom Kok beach

We try to get out for a walk in the countryside on Sundays, and in the sweaty weather it's good to end up at a beach for a swim and shower.

We arrived at this beach after originally planning to go to Stanley. I'd never been there before, but it is worth a visit - close to Stanley but much quieter than the actual Stanley beaches.

We took about 90 minutes to walk there from Deep Water Bay:
- Along Deep Water Bay beach and through the barbecue area
- follow the path around the coast to Repulse Bay
- along the beach to the Tin Hau Temple, then up through the statues on the left-hand side of the temple to reach South Bay Road
- turn right to follow that road, until you see the sign for No 35 South Bay road. Just before it you'll see steps leading up, signposted to Repulse Bay Road. Climb up there and along the path until you reach the road.
- walk a little way towards Stanley, then turn right into Chung Hom Kok Rd.
- Follow the road down to the bottom of a dip (where all the buses turn), and turn right down to the beach

It's paved path all the way except for when you are walking along beaches.

If you aren't feeling energetic, many of the buses that go to Stanley via the new part of town drive along Chung Hom Kok Rd and stop near the beach.
