Japanese tunnels, Buffalo Hill

There are two entrances, quite close to each other. Both were gated and locked when we passed by, so it's not clear if they are just short straight tunnels into the hillside, or if they are connected in any way.

They are on the Maclehose trail, stage 4, as you walk along the side of buffalo hill towards buffalo pass. The path curves around a spur of the hill, with one entrance on either side.
