Kennedy Town swimming pool

This government pool has two 50m outdoor pools, so it's good for lap swimming. One of the pools is shallower, and shadier too, so that tends to get the children and lessons, while the deeper pool is the one for swimming laps.

There's another, smaller pool that always seems to be reserved for classes, and a separate play area with large paddling pool and water sprays.

The only downside is that the deeper pool is next to the Smithfield market, so the end nearest the chicken stalls can get a bit whiffy!

Before you go, check if it is closed for cleaning (usually Wednesday 10-6), maintenance, or because it has been booked.

"Smithfield" is one of the few streets that carries no "Street" in the name.

Make the most of it while it lasts

The pool will be demolished during construction of the Kennedy Town station for the MTR extension. The MTR website says there will be a replacement:

1. Kennedy Town Swimming Pool
Phase one of the new swimming pool, including a secondary pool, fun pool and jacuzzi, will be re-provisioned at the existing lorry park site at Shing Sai Road before the demolition of Kennedy Town Swimming Pool and phase two of construction, which includes an indoor multi-purpose pool, training pool and jacuzzi, will commence after the completion of West Island Line
