Short Term Apartments in Hong Kong

I'm moving to Hong Kong early next year. While work shouldn't be an issue, I'm not planning to stay longer than 6 - 8 months, and apartment hunting in Hong Kong seems almost as troublesome as here in Tokyo. Can anyone recommend short term apartments on Hong Kong island? (Central, Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, etc.)

Cheers,
-Velshin

apts

Hi Ryan,

I've been doing extensive research online for good serviced apts for the last 2 weeks since I'm moving there in June.  Here are some that I would recommend for your budget.  Keep in mind this is my online research, as I've not seen the places myself.

These are all on the HK side since that's where I want to stay, places on the Kowloon side may be cheaper, I don't really know...

These are all around 200 to 250 sq. ft - W Studio in WC (http://www.wstudios.com.hk), Atria in Central or SOHO (http://atria.hk), Regent Heights in CWB (www.regentheights.com.hk).

If you want Kowloon side, the Harbourview Horizon seem to be a good choice, more bang for your buck. http://www.horizonhotels.com.hk/en/index.html

good luck.

Affordable serviced apartment for 1-3month

I will be visitin HK for 1-3month starting April 29nd. I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for a flat for about HKD $7000/month. I know it's not much but since I'm unemployed and will be traveling from Japan to job hunt, i won't be able to spend too much on housing. Thx a ton for ur help all.

Serviced Studio under $7K

hey kan,

you'll probably want to go with one of the smaller studios, I think they're around 160 to 200 sq. ft. go to:

http://hongkong.asiaxpat.com/property/serviced.asp

They're the H studio, studio studio, cozy studio, W studio, City Loft.

Just keep in mind, you get what you pay for...

re: flat til 13,000 HKD

If you're planning on staying a year or more, you'll get a much better deal if you just rent an apartment instead of looking at serviced apartments. Try the gohome website, which has a good search tool available.

Looking for Apt in Central HK for mid-Nov to mid-Dec 2008

Any recommendations for a 2 bedroom apartment serviced or not in central HK for mid-Nov to mid-Dec 2008? Or if it's more economical 2 apartments, studio layout, no need for a separate bedroom.

Willing to pay about 10K each.

Thanks

short-term rentals

This company is a bit different - most of the serviced apartment companies own an individual apartment block, and rent all the apartments in that block. Brightvale has several flats around HK in normal residential blocks, so might be better if you want to get a feel for 'normal' HK life. Has anyone tried them?

Short term apartments

Hi Michael,

Availability depends on how many rooms you require.  The only place I have found that has 3 bedroom serviced apts is Olympic Terrace .  There are very few places that offer more than 2 brs.  I posted a similar question a few months ago and at the time Mr B suggested a place in Central - which has 2 BR apartments.  You will find the details on the forum here

It seems wasteful but you may find that choosing a 1-month rental from a place requiring a month minimum stay may end up costing the same as 3 weeks at a place that has a shorter minimum stay.  Also, that broadens your options significantly.

Recently I have found two furnished apartments available for holiday rental, posted on Craigslist.  They are in the Causeway Bay / Wanchai area.  Their asking prices are very attractive (USD90 per night) for either a 2 or 3br flat. But note that they are not serviced, the rental is like a private agreement with the owner.

I am travelling as a party of 3 adults and 1 child (1.5 year old) in early November this year.  We are staying in HK for only a week.  After assessing my options I have decided to rent 2 adjoining hotel rooms in a hotel near Victoria Park.  I would still prefer a serviced apartment (mainly for the kitchen facilities) but the hotel option has turned out to be the best in terms of access to transport and other conveniences like playgrounds and supermarket.  Some hotels also offer long stay rates, although perhaps not in October, which is peak season for them.

good luck with your search.

We are currently looking for

We are currently looking for affordable accommodation in hongkong. We are a group of 6 adults and 1 child (1 year old). We are hoping to find an apartment with 3 bedrooms or a family suite. Karen, may I ask what hotel near Victoria Park you opted for?

Thanks.

Hotels near Victoria Park

Hi Leslie

We have chosen L'Hotel Causeway Bay.  The other hotel we considered was Metropark Causeway Bay.  Both are very close to Tin Hau MTR, Victoria Park playgrounds, tram, eateries and supermarket, which I thought was important because my toddler doesnt walk much yet.  There are many more hotels surrounding Victoria Park but these two are the closest (ie least walking) to public transport.

We had also looked at a couple of hotels near Wanchai MTR under similar criteria - very close to tram / MTR, supermarket and playground.  There are a couple of hotels near Southorn Playground (MEtropark Wanchai, Wesley etc) that might also suit.

good luck with your search

cheers

Short Term Stay

Dear Fanny or anyone,

I am looking for a cheap place to stay in Hong Kong during my internship period starting from 1st of December to probably end of January.

Can anyone offer me a place to stay? I would pay the rental, but have limited budget.

Thank you and looking forward for your reply.

Regards
Alex

Hi Alex, What do you mean

Hi Alex,
What do you mean by "cheap" place?
Decemeber and January are the peak seasons as they cover Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year, so the hotel rates will be very high.
For apartment, do you think HK$400 per day is "cheap" or not for these two months?

We arrive in Hong Kong on March 21 for our son's wedding on April 2   We will be joined by our other adult children on March 25 but they will come and go, as adult children do! We're looking for a two bedroom place on Hong Kong Island but would be willing to look at a one bedroom place if there is a sofa bed and a bit of space. Any offers?
